STORY CONTINUES BELOW THESE SALTWIRE VIDEOSabout the ongoing challenges at a not-for-profit in Lunenburg called Second Story Women's Centre. The staff have walked out and the support group has closed it's doors, temporarily. Ahead of a vigil in Lunenburg this evening, I received a letter from the Chair of the Board.
I spoke at length this week with an advocate who described some of their perspectives about what’s been happening. And I reached out to the board to get their side. What I received was a letter from the board’s Chairperson. And full disclosure, I’ve known Charlene Flint and her family for years. It’s a small community and there are often times when personal and professional relationships intersect. Some of what she wrote follows.
The Department of Community services is also assisting us in finding an interim Executive Director, who will lead the day-to-day operations of the centre while recruitment efforts are underway to fill all vacant positions, including a permanent Executive Director.
