“She was my Queen,” Courtney-Schofield said, noting Elizabeth’s kindness and infectious smile. “I just loved her and thought she was wonderful.” Hannigan, whose grandfather is from Birmingham, England, said it was important for her to attend the ceremony after watching the Queen’s funeral on TV earlier in the morning.
“My sister and I went and sat all night on the sidewalk in Piccadilly and then watched the procession,” the Wolfville resident recalled. “I saw her in her golden coach with the Duke of Edinburgh. It was quite something.” “I remember having to learn to say God Save the Queen when we were all saying God Save the King. So, now it’s in reverse,” he said.The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 74 hosted a ceremony in Wolfville Sept. 19 for people to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth II. - Jason Malloy
