NHL: San Jose Sharks allowed three goals on four shots in the first 2:10 of the third period in loss to Calgary Flames

SAN JOSE – Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson reached another career milestone Sunday night in what has so far been a record-setting season for the two-time Norris Trophy winner.

Sharks goalie Kaapo Kahkonen stopped 15 of 17 shots through two periods but Elias Lindholm scored two goals 19 seconds apart in the third period as the Flames took a 4-1 lead.Nazem Kadri lofted the puck toward Kahkonen from outside the blue line and it appeared the Sharks goalie thought he had trapped it just outside his crease. But instead, the puck had squirted over to Kahkonen’s right, where Dube collected it and fired into the net for his sixth goal of the season.

The Sharks had gone 2-0-2 with a pair of wins over Anaheim and Arizona, an overtime loss to Vancouver and a shootout loss Saturday night to Los Angeles. But Sunday marked the fourth time in seven games the Sharks have allowed five goals or more.Karlsson scored his 700th career NHL point in the first period.

Playing in his 871st career game Sunday, Karlsson became the 12th fastest defenceman to hit 700 points. With his assists, Karlsson extended his point streak to seven games, in which he has one goal and eight helpers.
