Three viral comedians skewered San Francisco's tech crowd in a show that prompted our reporter to think, and one heckler to yell, “Roast him harder!”

“What the f—k is Velt?” Warren asked a crowd member who had volunteered the name of his new company, which the founder said is trying to make work “multiplayer.” A pile-on ensued, each comedian aghast and yelling questions. Warren eventually raised his voice and yelled, “Come on, founder, pitch!” Then the evening’s juiciest detail emerged. While a lead engineer at investing startup Wefunder was explaining his company to the crowd, the screen behind him sprang to life. Text filled the Google search bar, reading “wefunder controversy.” It seemed like a gag, an instant background check that surely the volunteered roastee would pass.
A few minutes later, a heckler yelled, “Roast him harder,” adding after a moment that the comedians were just “letting him tell his life story.” The trio had to explain to the crowd that the roast hadn’t started yet; they were just setting things up. After neutralizing the heckler , they sped through the rest of the setup and finally took over the segment but never brought up his company’s transgressions.
