Academy Award nominee Carlos Saldanha will direct the live-action movie from a screenplay by David Guion and Michael Handelman, the writers behindThe story has been long sought after in Hollywood, with the likes of Steven Spielberg, Will Smith and Spike Jonze all being attached to the feature at some point. Although it has taken some time to adapt it into a live movie, the story was previously made into a 13-episode miniseries by HBO in 2001, narrated by Sharon Stone.
The movie is still currently in pre-production, but it has been tapped to have a release date of 2023.
