WEATHER: Severe storms possible in central US as Northeast gets early taste of fall.
There will be a couple of different rounds of severe weather in parts of the central U.S. this weekend.
These storms should intensify later Saturday into Sunday in parts of the central Plains from Oklahoma to Nebraska. There is a slight risk for severe weather for this region, and there is a possibility of strong winds, large hail and some tornadoes. It appears that chances are increasing for tropical or subtropical development with this system as it moves into the Atlantic Ocean. It is possible it will become a tropical depression early next week. However, as the system moves northward it will meet a stationary front, which should protect much of the East Coast from a significant weather event.
