Asylum seekers are sleeping on the street amid a tug of war between the city and the feds

As per a new policy that took effect June 1, the city is redirecting asylum seekers looking for emergency beds to the federal government — which Deputy Mayor Jennifer McKelvie framed as a difficult decision due to inadequate funding and limited shelter capacity.
