Blues legend Buddy Guy is among the top entertainment happenings this week

A showcase of 27 films from across Canada including eight films directed by women, three from Quebec and six by Indigenous filmmakers, including Alanis Obomsawin . There is also a spotlight on homegrown East Van film among the many special events. This documentary by director Robin McKenna was inspired by author Lewis Hyde’s book The Gift: Creativity and the Artist in the Modern World. It traces character-driven stories ranging from a young Indigenous man preparing for a potlatch, a factory occupied by migrant families in Rome turned into a living museum, goings-on at Burning Man and more. The film is a celebration of the power of imagination to change the world and improve our collective environment.
