ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Two communities in central Newfoundland and Labrador have new affordable housing units for seven families in need of a home.
Six of the newly constructed houses are on Brown Crescent in Gander with a mix of one- and two-bedroom units including three fully accessible units on the ground floor."This initiative marks an important initial step in a comprehensive plan to address housing challenges in Gander,” said Mayor Percy Farwell.
“Housing plays a foundational role in shaping a growing community that is inclusive, where all residents have access to safe, accessible, and affordable homes.” All houses are owned and operated by the provincial housing corporation, coming at a cost of roughly $1.52 million split between the provincial and federal governments towards the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador bilateral housing agreement under the National Housing Strategy.
