Skarsgård, whose acting credits include “Lords of Chaos” and “Beck,” comes from a long line of movie actors. He said he learned about Salming’s heroics from reading, as well as from his parents and others who idolized the defenceman. He recalled talking to Salming during production about some of the themes of the project, including hockey violence. Salming told him it was crazy that widespread fighting and other violent acts were allowed when he played.
