Venus and Serena will play doubles together at the U.S. Open (!!!)
USA TODAY's Nancy Armour puts into perspective Serena Williams' legendary career and what she will mean for female athletes for generations to come.The sisters have 14 doubles Grand Slam championships, tied for second in the Open era, including two at the U.S. Open in 1999 and 2009.
They have not lost a title once they have reached the finals. Their most recent doubles Grand Slam title was at Wimbledon in 2016. They also have three Olympic gold medals in doubles. . Venus, 42, has not indicated when she will retire. She holds 49 singles titles and seven Grand Slam championships.
