French Environment Minister Francois de Rugy, who has previously called for greater transparency in public office, resigned on Tuesday amid reports of lavish expenses including taxpayer-funded luxury dinners for friends and non-essential refurbishments to his ministerial flat totalling more than $71,000 .Mediapart
According to the reports, de Rugy hosted at least 10 grand dinners for friends during his time as speaker of the National Assembly between June 2017 and October 2018, including at his official residence, the historic Hotel de Lassay in Paris.Mediapart movement, who are campaigning over the rising cost of living, inequality, and President Emmanuel Macron’s pro-business reforms.
