Pinto was cleared to return to play after a long and tumultuous saga in January and signed a one-year, $775,000 contract, just $25,000 over the league minimum.
“You kind of take it for granted being around the team,” Pinto said. “How much the boys mean to you. It’s good to be back. I don’t want to get too emotional about it, but it’s awesome.” Pinto underwent shoulder surgery after an injury-riddled campaign in 2021-22 but ultimately returned to Ottawa the next season where he registered 20 goals and 15 assists in 82 games. The former North Dakota star has appeared in 140 NHL games over parts of five seasons, racking up 30 goals and 40 assists for 70 points.
Internationally, Pinto joined Team USA at the 2024 IIHF Men’s World Championship, playing alongside fellow Senators Brady Tkachuk and Jake Sanderson. He racked up two goals and seven assists for nine points.
