The SEC awarded more than $1.8 million to a whistleblower whose information exposed alleged misconduct that occurred overseas

By Mengqi Sun Aug. 30, 2019 3:53 pm ET The Securities and Exchange Commission awarded more than $1.8 million to a whistleblower whose information exposed alleged misconduct that occurred overseas, the agency said.

The tipster was the first to report the alleged violations to the regulator and provided “stellar information and ongoing assistance,” Jane Norberg, chief of SEC’s Office of the Whistleblower, said in a statement. “Without the whistleblower’s tip and assistance, the violations at issue would have been difficult to identify,” Ms. Norberg said in the SEC statement.
