Are Seattle voters ready to tax themselves again?
by Chris Daniels, KOMO News Senior ReporterFILE - A photo showing John Fox Place, a new apartment complex of affordable housing for people in north Seattle. A coalition of political, business, and social service leaders is backing the push to triple the existing housing levy to raise nearly a billion dollars. Backers say it will build housing or provide assistance for more than 9,500 families if approved.
Griffin answered that question with, “Even though we don't have an income tax as a state, the property taxes in the state are something like 30 within the country, per capita.” He continued, “If we think it's going to make a difference on our most critical issues, I don't know how else we get it done.”
