Moore has been tracking the concerns raised during meetings of the North Precinct Advisory Council.

Seattle City Councilmember Cathy Moore is hosting a public safety meeting focused on Aurora Avenue North at Bitterlake Community Center on April 25, 2024. The shootings, assaults, sex trafficking and other crimes that occur along Seattle ’s Aurora Avenue North will be the focus of a community conversation on Thursday night, hosted by Seattle City Councilmember Cathy Moore and other local leaders.

However, violent crime has increased 17%, shots fired are up 35% and auto theft has increased 20% compared to the same time period in 2023.The most recent crime trends available show there have been 31 shots fired incidents in the North Precinct so far this year, leading to one person being killed and another 10 people wounded.

Along with Moore, Seattle police Chief Adrian Diaz, Community Assisted Response and Engagement Chief Amy Smith, Seattle police Captain Lori Aagard, staff from the Seattle Department of Transportation, as well as members of the Aurora Avenue community will be taking part in the discussion.
