Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi portrayed it as a step forward for Biden's proposed $3.5 trillion social spending plan, which Democrats hope to pass without Republican help.
Neither she nor Schumer offered details about the agreement or the overall price of the legislative package. Other Democrats said they were not aware of the deal.
