With a criminal investigation underway over a 12-year-old West Haven boy’s death, questions remain about how Utah’s Department of Child and Family Services (DCF
Community members at a candlelight vigil honoring 12-year-old Gavin Peterson Tuesday night said they felt he was failed by everyone.
Educators are mandated reporters in Utah, and the Weber School District confirmed that workers filed complaints with DCFS long before Gavin Peterson died early July. Despite warnings from the district to avoid speaking with the media, two current employees and one former employee have come forward, saying they can't stay silent.
Davis said that after a group of staff members tried to help feed Gavin at school, his stepmom intervened.
