Nottingham primary school preparing ice pops so they can stay open during heatwave

A primary school in Nottingham has announced it will remain open during the incoming heatwave, and that they're getting ice pops ready to help their pupils beat the heat. The Met Office has issued a red weather warning for extreme heat for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, with temperatures expected to top 37C on Tuesday .

In a Twitter post, the school said: "Good news: Mellers will remain open during Monday & Tuesday’s heatwave. We’ve thought about how to keep our students cool; our parents have to work to earn, so we will be open as usual. Unless instructed to close, we remain open. Our job is to serve all our families!"
