In its most recent test in 2022 SAWS found fewer than 197 thousand fibers per liter it its water. That’s below the EPA limit, the asbestos cement pipes continue to age and deteriorate. SAWS says the hard water in our area forms a calcium barrier on the inside of the pipe which reduces how many fibers get into the water.
