Bruce Cockburn: 50 years of music, spirituality and social justice | SaltWireNORTH SYDNEY, N.S. — Betting favourite Saulsbrook Feisty delivered on Saturday afternoon, pacing to a 1:59.1 victory in the $15,960 Phil Pinkney Stakes for two-year-old pacing fillies at Northside Downs.
Redmond Doucet drove the filly to her sixth win on the season from nine starts for owners Carrie and Losi Saunders. Saulbrook Feisty held off a late challenge from A Girl Named Tom to win by two-and-a-half lengths. Eenymeenyminymoe finished third, followed by Smilin In Heaven, Gotitfrommymomma, A Shui She Goes and Worth Repeating.
Revenant won his third in a row, and second straight in the winners-over event for aged pacers, stopping the clock in 1:58.4, the fastest mile of the afternoon. Zach Mullins guided the nine-year-old to his eighth win on the campaign for owners Kyla MacDonald, Tyler and Colby Lynk. Revenant won by four-and-a-half lengths over A Better Man, with QTS Charlie finishing third. Runaway Mystery, Two Tone Terror, Howmac Napoleon and Red Rum She Wrote rounded out the field of seven.
Doucet, Ryan Campbell and Shawn Lynk all had a pair of driving wins on the day. Besides his stakes win, Doucet's other win came aboard Ty Im A Cougar, who was victorious for owner Joe Nearing in 2:03.3. Campbell visited the winners circle with Keeperoftherealm for owner Gussie Burins in 2:00.4, and Elm Grove Penelope for owners Steven Lewis and Henry Poswiata in 2:00.2.
Other winners on the afternoon included: Delightful Feeling for Gerard Kennedy and owner Heather Hawkins in 2;02.3, Dellas Playboy for Ardon Mofford and owner George Della Valle in 2:00.2, and Southfield Patrick for Randy Getto and owner Travis Campbell in 2:03.1, over Farmers Fieldstone and Accelerator. Fans wagered $16,856.00, with the next live card of racing scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m.
