The organisation agrees that targeting athletes with difference in sexual development is discriminatory.
Olympic gold medallist Caster Semenya, according to reports, is set to race in the 800 metres in Friday’s Doha Diamond League, after losing her legal battle against the new IAAF gender rules.
The South African Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists on Friday, in support of Semenya, said it was disappointed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport who rejected Caster Semenya’s challenge against IAAF rules forcing her to lower her testosterone levels in order to compete internationally.
“The scientific evidence regarding the advantage associated with certain levels of testosterone levels in the selected track events is questionable. Like the United Nations, Sasog believes that the ruling by the IAAF is unnecessary, humiliating, and harmful,” Sasog said.
