Multiple sources said Whelan had done a good job as president and was extremely professional. They were surprised to learn of her departure, with one person calling it “a big loss.”“I think it often goes unsung, just how big a role being the president of a voluntary organization really is,” he said. “Sheila had an incredible amount of energy and commitment and very much contributed to moving a lot of things forward.
