After unveiling the bill on Thursday, Policing Minister Christine Tell told reporters the horrific events at James Smith,
“When you are in violation of our law of this country and you’re out there and being funded by the taxpayers of this province? Insane,” she said. “If there are 1,300 criminal code warrants for very serious, prolific offenders in our province, I am certain that there are going to be individuals that are on government assistance of some sort.”Article content
The team will work with RCMP, municipal police and other government agencies to collect offenders’ information. She said the team will work with social services to ensure that pulling assistance would not negatively affect family members connected to an offender, including their spouse or children.Article content
