One of the recommendations in the Sask. Chamber of Commerce's provincial election platform is to lower the working age to 13 years old.
The Saskatchewan Federation of Labour says one solution to the province's labour shortage could be increasing wages instead of lowering the working age .Ahead of the provincial election this fall, the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce is recommending a new goverment lower the legal working age to 13 years from 14 years.
In a separate email to Global News, the chamber said youth are permitted to enter the workforce, with substantial restrictions under the Saskatchewan Employment Act on when and where they are allowed to work.
