Brayden Yager, a Martensville product who played for the Saskatoon Contacts, was picked 14th overall by Pittsburgh in the 2023 NHL Draft.
“It was insane,” the 5-foot-11, 170-pound Yager said of being drafted. “Obviously the Penguins are an incredible organization and, with some of the players there that I’ll get the opportunity to learn from, it’s a pretty cool opportunity, but I’m still soaking it in right now.On Wednesday night, he joined the Pens brass on stage, then went to the team’s draft table.
“You never really know where you’re going to end up, but I couldn’t be any happier that I ended up with the Pens.” Molendyk, 18, was taken at No. 24 by the Nashville Predators, who were hosting this year’s NHL Entry Draft.
