Sandy Clough, an informed, provocative and sometimes critical watchdog of Colorado sports, is retiring after more than 40 years as a sports-talk radio host.

Bonneville Denver announced Friday that after 25 years with the 104.3 The Fan , Clough was leaving his full-time hosting duties. Clough came to Denver in 1979 as a host on KOA-AM’s Broncos Radio Network and made a name for himself as the host of “Bronco Talk” after Broncos games. Never an apologist or a cheerleader for any teams, Clough earned a reputation for being tough on players, coaches, management and owners.“I’ve had a tremendous experience over the past 25 years sharing my opinions and interacting with our wonderful listeners at The Fan,” Clough said in a statement. “Being able to share in the joy of Denver’s wins while consoling the city’s heartbreak of losses was a privilege and responsibility I was honored to have.

“I’m very grateful and appreciative for all of the amazing colleagues I’ve had the opportunity to call teammates, and most of all I’m extremely thankful to The Fan audience who took the time to listen in and interact during our shows.”
