Sandbanks Provincial Park is anticipating a “fully booked or near full” month for camping in August.The start of this week however shows the demand has slowed down a bit.Monday July 31 was 68% full, Tuesday August 1 was 61% full and Wednesday August 2 was 54% full.

Quinte News reached out to Ontario Parks to determine what is deemed to be “at capacity” at Sandbanks.Carlin Thompson“The number of permits available can fluctuate and is monitored closely by the Sandbanks Provincial Park staff,” Ontario Parks tells Quinte News in a statement. “Park capacities are based on a number of factors such as parking spaces available, infrastructure, and area capacity. We continuously monitor park capacity and may make changes from time to time to ensure park capacity is effectively used.”daily vehicle permit online in advance.

“Visitors are welcome to check in at the park’s West Gate, across the road from the Dunes Day Use area, or the East Gate, formerly known as the Main Gate. Typically West Gate is less congested, resulting in shorter lines,” Ontario Parks says in a statement.
