Anthony used to call Kilowatt “Kil-a-game” because we never met any girls there. Then again, we didn’t really meet girls at very manyto begin with. We were single and in our mid-20s and since this was nearly a decade before Tinder, bars were where you were supposed to meet people, but we mostly just spent our bar hours hanging with friends. And many of those hours were spent at Kilowatt.
“Peter wasn’t going to sell to just anybody,” Katie Rose McCarthy tells me as we sit at one of Kilowatt’s booths alongside her co-owners, Peter Nevin and Rick Eusey. “In fact, when we asked if it was for sale he said, ‘Who’s asking?’” And they were certainly going to need his help to get through the process of buying the bar.
