San Diego police investigating after man stabbed in back in downtown [Breaking]

San Diego police are investigating after a 30-year-old man was found with a stab wound to his back near a trolley station in downtown San Diego early Wednesday.

Police responding to the 4:40 a.m. call found the injured man off Park Boulevard near C Street, police said. A passerby stopped after noticing the man had been stabbed in his lower back, said police Officer David O’Brien. The victim, who police said was transient, also had abrasions on his face.Paramedics responded and the man was transported to a hospital. His wounds were not considered life threatening.

The victim told police his assailant was a man covered by a blanket but he wasn’t forthcoming with what had happened or a detailed description of the suspect, O’Brien said. A blood trail indicated the assault had occurred a short distance away on B Street near 11th Avenue in front of a bagel shop, O’Brien said.
