The San Diego Humane Society is caring for 46 birds and nine cats left behind — in conditions described as “deplorable” — when their owner was evicted, the agency said this week.
The Humane Society’s emergency boarding staff are caring for 16 adult quail, 30 quail chicks, one cat and eight kittens, the agency said.: 55 animals are safe at San Diego Humane Society after their owner was evicted and left them behind. 16 adult quail, 30 quail chicks, 8 kittens and 1 adult cat will be cared for by our staff for Emergency Boarding while our Humane Law Enforcement investigates.
