San Diego County has held a handful of open vaccine clinics and has distributed some doses to local health care providers. But San Diegans at risk of contracting the virus have still been unable to get vaccinated because of a nationwide shortage.

The monkeypox virus causes a rash or sores that can be very painful, and many patients also develop flu-like symptoms. Tseng said you should contact your health care provider if you think you have monkeypox.Appointments to receive the monkeypox vaccine at San Diego County’s vaccine event booked up fast.
