The Democrat announced her campaign for San Diego County District 4, as the board decides how to replace outgoing supervisor Nathan Fletcher.

The other four members of the board will decide May 2 whether to hold a special election, appoint a successor to fill out the remaining three and a half years of his term or appoint a temporary replacement until a new supervisor is elected.earlier this month that she favors an appointment, which she said could get the seat filled as soon as June whereas a special election might not conclude until November.
The other three remaining supervisors have not publicly shared their preferences for filling the seat. Neither Board Chair Nora Vargas nor Supervisor Jim Desmond responded to repeated inquiries, and Supervisor Joel Anderson declined to comment.“If the remaining board members choose to appoint, I will apply,” she said. “If they choose to call a special election, I will run.”
