The Grim Bakers owner Manny Martinez was selected as one of 10 contestants competing for $25,000 on the Halloween Baking Championship.
San Antonio 's Grim Baker scared off the competition for good and became the newest Food Network Halloween Baking Champion. Manny Martinez is owner of The Grim Bakers , an Alamo City bakery that specializes in making spine-chilling sweets all year long. The bakery called it a 'dream come true' that Martinez was selected for the televised competition, where he competed against nine other bakers for the chance to win $25,000.
Top 10 New Braunfels Restaurants for 2024 In Monday's finale, Martinez was crowned winner of the episode's first challenge, in which the bakers had to create 'dissected desserts.' Martinez cooked up a mixed berry cobbler that looked like a firefly smashed on a windshield, with vanilla bean creme and a gummy heart concealed inside.
'Fraud': Suzanne Simpson's family, friends say all but one fundraiser are scams 'Nothing 'bugs' me about this. I love it,' judge Zac Young said. For the final challenge of the competition, Martinez created a cake with a medieval vampire scene that judges called 'next level.' The base of Martinez's creation was his 'black magic' cake mix, a coffee-based cake with hazelnut chocolate mousse.
South Texas temperatures approach 90 degrees Wednesday. Here's when to expect cooler days. After tasting each creepy creation, the judges selected Martinez as the competition winner in a suspenseful ceremony. Amid Halloween confetti and hugs from the runners-up, the Grim Baker tearfully described his plans to use the prize money toward a down payment on a house for his family. 'We're gonna get a bigger place for our girls to just be kids and not have to be cooped up,' he said.
