Samuel Montembeault will be in goal for the Canadiens Thursday night at the Bell Centre when they take on the Columbus Blue JacketsMontembeault has a 1-1 record this season with a 3.55 goals-against average and an .892 save percentage. Montembeault allowed five goals on 35 shots in his last start, a 5-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild on Oct. 17.
Apart from Montembeault replacing Cayden Primeau in goal, Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis won’t make any changes to the lineup that lost 5-2 to the New Jersey Devils Tuesday night at the Bell Centre.Canadiens defenceman Kaiden Guhle will miss his fourth straight game with an upper-body injury. Guhle took part in Thursday’s morning skate at the Bell Centre with a full-contact sweater. Afterward, head coach Martin St. Louis said Guhle isn’t ready to play yet, but that he’s getting close.
After facing the Blue Jackets Thursday night, the Canadiens will entertain the Winnipeg Jets Saturday at the Bell Centrebefore heading out on a three-game road trip that begins Monday in Las Vegas against the Golden Knights. The Canadiens will visit the Arizona Coyotes next Thursday and the St. Louis Blues next Saturday.
