Tuesday arrest involved RCMP helicopter, large police presence
Officers from the RCMP Emergency Response Team and Vancouver Island General Investigation Section executed a search warrant at a home on Stewart Road on the island.
Members of the public likely noticed the large police presence, including the use of specialized vehicles on their roads and the RCMP helicopter overhead, Sgt. Chris Manseau, RCMP media relations officer, said Wednesday. The search warrant execution was conducted without incident and there was no threat to the public.
The person who was arrested has been released from custody. Charges have not yet been forwarded to the prosecution service, said Manseau, adding that no names or further details will be released. The investigation is expected to continue for several days. In the meantime, the Salt Spring RCMP want to thank the public for their patience and their RCMP partners for their assistance, said Manseau.
