The Saint John Police Force says a woman was visiting with an acquaintance in the 200 block of Maint Street's north end when a woman wearing a mask appeared and allegedly assaulted her with a bat. Police say nearby firefighters, presumably those working at Station No. 5 on Adelaide Street, stepped in, at which point the suspect fled in a vehicle.
