Based on early results, Melissa Saenz is leading her opponent 59 percent to 41 percent for the County Court-at-Law No. 2 bench.
“I’m very, very excited about this,” Saenz said. “It was definitely a team effort. We worked hard and we are ready for November.” “I believe our community is ready for the changes criminal justice reform can bring our criminal court system,” Saenz said. “I’ve been a prosecutor for almost 11 years and I know we are in need of reform.”Gloria Martinez and Christine “Chris” Castillo were locked in a tight race for Bexar County district clerk in the Democratic primary runoff.
Castillo and Martinez are both former deputy district clerks. Martinez, 55, served for three decades in the Bexar County District Clerk’s Office in various positions before retiring in 2019. Castillo, 55, also retired from the district clerk’s office in 2019 after 33 years and now works for the Texas Attorney General’s Office in the child support division.
