Xi Jinping’s public dressing down of Justin Trudeau was a bully tactic, meant to intimidate and humiliate

Presumably, Xi was referring to the Prime Minister’s Office readout released to the press after an earlier conversation between the two leaders at the G20. It wasn’t an official meeting, but the PMO highlighted the broad topics discussed, including China’s real issue is that the topic of election interference is unflattering and Trudeau bringing it up in public fashion could bring more attention to the Chinese Communist Party’s global efforts to undermine democracy. Canada, despite being a fertile ground for these efforts, has so far done little to stand up to China. Xi would like to keep it that way.
