The new leadership comes more than two months after the Italian fashion house revealed Alessandro Michele was stepping down from the role.
Sarno has been in the industry for nearly two decades after beginning his career with Prada in 2005. He later moved to Dolce & Gabbana and then joined Valentino in 2009, where he eventually became the fashion director overseeing men’s and women’s collections.
President and CEO of Gucci, Marco Bizzarri, expressed his excitement for the designer, saying, “Having worked with a number of Italy’s most renowned luxury fashion houses, he brings with him a vast and relevant experience.
