KUCHING: Sarawak recorded better results in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2022 compared to the previous year, says state Education director Datuk Dr Azhar Ahmad.
Another 5,480 candidates achieved at least Grade C in all subjects compared to 4,960 in 2021.
However, the number of candidates who passed all subjects dropped slightly to 12,464 in 2022 compared to 12,547 the previous year."This is a difference of 0.1 points from the GPN of 5.17 in 2021," he said when announcing the state's SPM 2022 results at SMK Green Road here on Thursday .Azhar said 32,810 candidates in Sarawak sat for SPM 2022, which ran from Jan 30 to March 15 this year. Candidates affected by Covid-19 took the exam from March 16-22.
He said 91.2% of the candidates were eligible to receive the SPM certificate, an improvement from 88.3% in 2021. In addition, he said 132 special needs students sat for SPM 2022, with 56% eligible to receive the certificate. "Congratulations to all candidates who sat for SPM 2022. I pray you will go on to greater success for the wellbeing of Malaysia Madani," he said.
