Rust-Oleum on Sept. 28, 2023, recalled 84,000 cans of Professional Fluorescent Pink Marking Paint because the valve may "detach with force" and hurt someone. The version on the left is sold at Lowe's. The 15-ounce metal cans of Rust-Oleum Professional Fluorescent Pink Marking Paint were sold at hardware stores including Lowe’s and The Home Depot, as well as online at Amazon, from April through July of this year for about $10, according to an announcement with theThe company said it “has received five reports of the spray valve assembly and plastic cap detaching with force, causing paint to splatter. No injuries have been reported.

The cans sold at Lowe’s have “Water Based Formula” on the cans and the lot code S34052. The lot code for can sold at other retailers is S34054.People who bought the spray paint should not use it, take a photo of the code on the bottom of the can, wrap it in a plastic bag and keep it out of reach of children. Rust-Oleum will provide a refund.
