Luis Rubiales' defense team argued in closing statements that Jenni Hermoso consented to the kiss at the 2023 Women's World Cup and that even if she hadn't, it shouldn't be considered sexual assault. Hermoso's lawyer countered that the kiss was not consensual and that she was pressured into downplaying the incident. The verdict and sentencing could come as early as next week.
