Police said someone attempted to check the woman’s children out of school while they were at the scene of the homicide.Royse City police say that after a woman was killed at a home Thursday, district schools were placed on a “soft lockdown” while officers secured her children.Officers conducted a welfare check just after noon at a home in the 2500 block of Perdenales Drive, near San Marcos Drive. Officers found a 37-year-old woman who had died, along with “signs of violence,” police said.

The woman, whom police did not identify, has children who attend Royse City ISD schools, police said. As officers were securing the homicide scene, they were told that someone was attempting to check the woman’s children out of school. Police requested the district restrict access to campuses until officers had more information, and the district did not allow visitors on campus until the children were secure.

The social media post was made to “explain the reason for the soft lockdown and to ensure everyone that there is no threat to any school campus,” police said.
