Top-rated QB Julian Sayin and Lancers rally after stout defensive effort by Grizzlies
For 46 minutes, 37 seconds, Mission Hills played marvelous defense against No. 4-ranked Carlsbad, forcing two turnovers and holding the explosive Lancers to 10 points. But Carlsbad coach Thadd MacNeal thinks Julian Sayin is the best quarterback in the nation, and late Friday night, Sayin showed why.
The TD pass completed a six-play, 63-yard drive that started with 1:23 to play. The big play in the drive was improvised, Sayin frantically scrambling, then heaving a 38-yard completion to Nico Arboit.Of the hectic third-down scramble, Sayin said, “I’m just trying to make a play, trying to put my team in position to win.”
