The results of the annual report mean the Riders are still dealing with the financial impact of the cancelled 2020 season. Merchandise and sponsorship sales improved when compared to 2020-21. Merchandise revenues were $4,513,718 in 2021-22. Those sales were $2,219,713 and the previous year was $6,045,495.

The Grey Cup game and its festival were originally scheduled to be in Regina in 2020. That changed when the season was cancelled. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats were awarded the 2021 Grey Cup game. The 109th Grey Cup game is to be held Nov. 20 at Mosaic Stadium.
