Robert Pattinson teases how The Batman's ending sets up a sequel to Matt Reeves' movie. After it was confirmed Ben Affleck wouldn't return to star in The Batman, Warner Bros.' search to find a new Dark Knight actor eventually led to Pattinson getting the superhero role. Seen as a somewhat controversial choice at the time, every look at Pattinson's new version of Batman has generated more excitement.
Before The Batman's sequel moves forward, audiences will first meet Pattinson's Bruce Wayne as a relatively inexperienced crime fighter. The movie pits Batman against The Riddler , who is terrorizing Gotham with various riddles related to the city's dark history and the Wayne family's involvement in it. The Batman will explore Bruce Wayne's detective side as Matt Reeves' mystery thriller story evolves.

Warner Bros. and DC Films have yet to officially announce plans for The Batman 2. An official announcement might not come until after The Batman debuts in theaters, but the studios have already shown a confidence in Reeves' vision. HBO Max has two The Batman spinoff shows in development, one centered around Penguin and another on Gotham PD. With the franchise already expanding to the small screen, a movie sequel seems likely.
It's unknown if the tease referenced by Pattinson comes at the very end of The Batman or in a post-credits scene. In either case, there are plenty of potential storylines that could be explored next. Reeves has already mentioned interest in Ra's Al Ghul for future stories, while there are also persistent rumors that The Batman sets up Joker for a sequel. Many are also hoping to see Court of Owls, Robin, and more in the franchise's future.
