Robert Belbin was out on bail in connection with a May 2022 George Street stabbing when he allegedly murdered 22-year-old Seamus Secord two weeks ago today.

Belbin, 21, was arrested Feb. 17 for the second-degree murder of 22-year-old Seamus Secord of St. John’s and appeared in provincial court via telephone from the lockup briefly Saturday. Belbin’s lawyer, Iain Hollett, said he needed time to speak with his client before proceeding and the matter was postponed until March 13 for an update.

The RNC had received a request for help around Mayor Avenue and Newtown Road around 5 p.m. on Feb. 7, with a report that a man and was in serious distress. They arrived to find Secord with life-threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital, where he died.
