After so many close calls, Argonauts guard Dariusz Bladek — a former Roughrider — is finally poised to make his first Grey Cup appearance. CFL YQR
“The years that we had here, we were so close,” Bladek reflected. “We had the teams and we had the guys. I know we had the damn guys. We had the people — the right guys.
“I wear my emotions on my sleeve. Everybody understands and everybody knows not to take away from the goal as a team, but there’s a lot of men on this team that have a lot of reasons — including myself personally — to come out here and hoist that Cup in the middle of this field.” When play resumed in 2021, Bladek and the Argonauts finished first in the East, only to fall 27-19 to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on the very same field where he had tasted disappointment in a division final four years earlier.
