Roads remain closed in Greeley Wednesday morning after a severe storm plummeted the city with hail and rain overnight, causing flooding and dangerous driving conditions.

The City of Greeley advised residents to avoid downtown and opened a temporary shelter for those in need at the Greeley Family FunPlex, located at 1501 65th Ave., because of the flooding. As of Wednesday morning, 16th Street between U.S. 85 and 7th Avenue was still closed as well as 6th Avenue between 16th Street and 13th Street, saidNortheast Greeley got hit hardest by the storm, receiving nearly four inches of rain. The west side of the city received between one and two inches of rain, said Bernie Meier, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Boulder.
